Haleb/ (Aleppo), like its neighbour Antakya (Antioch), is vastly ancient (one of the longest-settled cities in the world), and much fought over. It's also like Antakya in presenting surprisingly few sites.
This is one of the exceptions: the entrance to the citadel, a massive fortress in the centre of the city.
