In Kenya I was mostly interested in the scenery and wildife, as one would expect. I did spend a fair bit of time in Nairobi, too, in between trips to the countryside and while taking care of bits of business. It had considerable people-watching value.
At the time, Nairobi had a reputation for a high crime rate, and River Road is not in the best part of town. I never had any problems personally, but did see other people get robbed - and at least one lynch mob chasing a thief.
