As you can see from the giant flag in the photo, this small town in the New Territories became something of a haven for Kuomintang refugees, even earning the nickname "Little Taiwan" for a while.
As one might expect, the entire area was cleared just before the handover in 1997; you can see the ongoing Junk Bay land reclamation in the background.
