Don't read too much into the photos, please. If I have an opinion on the treatment of a particular animal in a particular zoo, I'll likely make it clear in my comments. Ideally, I'd prefer to see all animals in the wild, but I don't have forever to find them all there. Sometimes I take photos just to document what they look like, other times because they're doing something interesting. In many cases, especially with mammals, I'm precisely interested in the way they adapt to captivity.

For those wondering what I think of zoos and aquariums in general: I've seen a few good ones, many middling, and a few disgustingly bad. The difference mainly boils down to how well they simulate the animal's natural environment, as well as general treatment. I also believe we can't look just at the ethics of zoos but must consider the broader context, and there are many complicating factors.
