Photography 🢒 Alberta 1976-1990

The famous old tree at Burmis, just before the Crowsnest Pass on highway 3.
The date on this is uncertain, probably early 1980s. Getting it in shape to post presented a challenge. I scanned the raw image from a print back around 1999, which likely means it was not 35 mm (I no longer own a film scanner so can't redo it). It lacks resolution and, being dark, also had high noise levels. Yet, I think it's too good a shot to pass by. Using smart enlargement filter and wavelet noise repair filters in GIMP with G'MIC, I managed something that I hope is presentable.
Reshooting the image is not much of an option, either; the Burmis Tree in the photo is long-dead and in such pathetic shape that these days it's propped up by a visible metal frame (when vandals are not cutting off bits of it).
